Patna: The New Year 2026 has brought two massive updates for landowners in Bihar. In a major relief to millions of citizens, the Bihar Government has officially extended the deadline for the statewide land survey. Alongside this, the Revenue and Land Reforms Department has launched a historic digital initiative: starting January 1, 2026, all certified land documents are now available online, ending the need for endless trips to the Circle Office (CO) or Block Office.

Major Update: Land Survey Deadline Extended to December 2026

• New Deadline: The survey and settlement work will now be completed by December 2026.
• Why the Extension? Many landowners faced issues uploading their genealogy (Vanshavali) and self-declaration forms due to server crashes. The extension gives “Ryots” (landholders) 5 extra months to fix their papers without panic.

“No More Block Visits”: Digital Documents Live from Jan 1

As promised by the Deputy Chief Minister, the digital era for Bihar Bhumi began on New Year’s Day.

• What Changed? Previously, getting a certified copy of a land record (like a Jamabandi or Mutation order) took 7–14 days and required bribes or middlemen.
• New Facility: Citizens can now download digitally signed copies of their land records directly from the Bhu-Abhilekh Portal.
• Legal Validity: These digital copies are 100% valid for bank loans, court cases, and selling property. They do not require a physical stamp or signature from the CO.

The “AgriStack” Drive: Verification in Full Swing

While the survey deadline has been extended, the government is not relaxing on data verification. A new campaign called AgriStack is currently active across all 38 districts.

• Goal: To create a unique “Farmer ID” linked to land records. This will allow direct benefit transfers (DBT) for schemes like PM-Kisan without fraud.

4. Request Copy: Click on the “Request Digital Copy” button for the document you need.
5. Pay Fee: Pay the nominal government fee online (UPI/Net Banking).
6. Download: Once approved (usually instant or within 24 hours), the PDF will be available in your dashboard.
