HPBOSE Exam Date 2026 Out: Class 10 & 12 Schedule & New Pattern

Big updates are coming in for students in Himachal Pradesh! The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has officially announced the schedule for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations for 2026. Along with the dates, the board has introduced some major changes to the exam pattern to make the system fairer and more transparent.

HP Board Class 10 & 12 Exam Dates 2026

The wait is finally over. The HPBOSE administration has confirmed that the theory examinations for both Class 10 and Class 12 will begin on the same date.

• Start Date: March 3, 2026
• Class 10 End Date: March 28, 2026
• Class 12 End Date: April 1, 2026
• Exam Timing: Morning session (usually 8:45 AM to 12:00 PM)

Before the main written exams, the Practical Examinations will be conducted. These are scheduled to take place from February 20 to February 28, 2026. Students are advised to contact their respective school principals to know the exact batch and timing for their practicals.

Major Changes in Exam Pattern for 2026

In a significant move to modernize the education system and align it with the National Education Policy (NEP), HPBOSE has introduced two massive reforms this year.

1. No More Different Question Paper Series

For years, students received different sets of question papers (Series A, B, and C) which often had different difficulty levels. This year, the board has abolished this system.

• What Changed: All students will now receive the identical question paper.
• The Twist: To prevent cheating, the sequence of questions will be shuffled. So, Question No. 1 for you might be Question No. 10 for the student sitting next to you, but the question itself will be the same.
• Benefit: This ensures that every student is judged on the exact same difficulty level.

2. Introduction of 20% MCQs

To help students prepare for competitive exams like JEE and NEET, the board has changed the marking scheme.

• New Rule: 20% of the total marks in every subject will now be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
• Why it Matters: This will test conceptual clarity rather than just rote learning. Students can score higher if their basics are strong.

Strict Anti-Cheating Measures

The board is taking strict action to ensure a fair exam environment.

• CCTV Surveillance: All examination centers will be monitored via CCTV cameras directly connected to the HPBOSE headquarters in Dharamshala.
• Flying Squads: Special teams will visit sensitive centers to check for any malpractice.
• Strict Warning: Any center found involved in mass copying will face immediate cancellation of the exam and legal action.

Admit Card and Result Date

Admit Cards: The roll numbers and admit cards will be released online shortly on the official website. Schools will download them and distribute them to regular students. Private candidates can download them directly.

Result Target: In a piece of good news, the board has set a target to declare the results faster this year. The aim is to announce the HPBOSE Results by April 30, 2026, so that students do not face delays in college admissions.
